With Wild & Fruity, Leander Games appears to be proposing a mix between two categories that tend to have their own fans. On one hand, we have the classic fruit slots of old, games with very similar graphics and symbols, which don’t have a story to tell but still have their fans. On the other, there are modern slot machines, with complex features and exciting multipliers. A mix between the two is not unheard of, but now we’re looking at the version that Leander Games has thought up, so let’s see how it does.
Setup-wise, we’re looking at 5x3 reels with 20 paylines. Payouts as high as 1,000x the stake are possible in the base game, though the multipliers from the free spins seem to suggest that it could be even better. Otherwise, it’s a game with a below-average RTP of 95%, high volatility, and a mix of features that focuses on sticky wilds, free spins, and increasing multipliers.
For a slot machine with 20 lines, the betting range always seems to be the same one in Leander Games releases. It once again starts from a minimum of $0.20, which allows for a $0.01 bet per line. It can get up to $200, where the line bet would be $10.
The mention of the wild symbol in the game’s title is not an accident. It’s a symbol with a big role to play, triggering features and forming combinations that will pay as much as 50x the stake per line, or up to 1,000x total. In the free spins mode, it also boosts the total multiplier, so it appears that the potential to get paid is even better at that point, and possibly the limits could be higher as well.
Where the game disappoints me, is in its average returns to players. Long-term, it’s expected to have an RTP of only 95% (a good figure would be at 96% or higher).
Look out for that Wild Fruity logo, it’s your sticky wild, a symbol that can form combinations and get you paid directly as well. Its own rewards offer up to 50x the stake on each line, though you do need up to five wilds landing together for that to happen. As a wild, it has the role of the substitute, but there is more to it than that.
The wild symbol is always sticky, and it comes with a small number in the bottom right corner, which tells you how many free spins it gives you. In this mode, get additional wilds, to add to the number of free spins, but also to give the win multiplier a boost by 1x.
As you can see, the list of features is not very long, but the sticky wilds and the way they trigger other features or boost wins, make it an interesting option.
As I’ve previously mentioned, there is nothing special about the game’s theme. Hundreds, if not thousands, of online slot machines are relying on the same fruit symbols to form winning combinations. The quality of the design isn’t better than anywhere else either, I’d say it’s actually below average in that regard.
As for the choice of symbols, the Wild Game Logo is a major one, along with lucky 7s, Bar logos, watermelons, grapes, lemons, and cherries.
Wild & Fruity slot might not have the longest list of features around, but the included sticky wilds, along with their free spins and increasing multipliers, do provide it with plenty of excitement. It’s an interesting option because of those features alone, as otherwise its regular top payouts and below-average RTP don’t do much to get us excited about it.
