‘Little Chat’ with Pawel Piotrowski, New Games Manager at YggdrasilFriday, 20 November 2020
I am curious about the name of Yggdrasil. Why did you choose this name for a gambling company?
It had to stand out. We went for something creative, which reflects the way we produce games. The company has Scandinavian roots, and Yggdrasil is the mighty tree of life in Norse mythology.
What are your key benefits for slot players? What are you most proud of?
Until recently, Yggdrasil was mostly praised for the AAA art and production quality, but now we brought the game mechanics to the same top level. We've refined our game development process, spending way more time on math design. It can take months before we're happy with the game's math before we make a call to start the actual production. But when it happens, we have great confidence in the success of that game.
Yggdrasil has over seven years of experience in the market. How have slots changed during this time?
Slots seemed to be simpler back in the days. It was easier seven years ago to come up with some industry-first innovative games. Grid cluster slots are more and more popular. Players are not excited anymore with 100x or 1,000x wins. The streamers community boosts the need for extreme win potential. We're releasing our new Splitz game this month called Syncronite, and it comes with the max win of 64,000x the stake for example.
What global tendencies in slots development do you forecast for the next two years?
Providers will continue rolling out new mechanical frameworks looking for the next big thing. Just this year we've released our first Splitz, MultiMax, and Gigablox games. Gigablox games, following the success of Lucky Neko and Hades, will be an essential part of our 2021 roadmap. The demand for high volatility games with insane win potential is likely to increase. You can also expect more games with buy bonus and gamble options in eligible markets.
What are the top five slots from Yggdrasil that you recommend for players who haven't yet tried your games?
Give Jungle Books a go. It's an older game with an abundance of features. Vikings Go Berzerk and Valley of the Gods are our most popular titles to date. From this year's games, it must be Hades Gigablox and Multifly!
