Asgard’s Thunder is dedicated to the Viking god of thunder, Thor himself. We’re looking at a variety of symbols, some of them themed around Thor or his hammer, others simple options that don’t have much to get you interested with. This one’s coming via Greentube, a Novomatic company which creates their online content.
In Asgard’s Thunder, we get to play on the usual 5x3 reels, using 20 fixed lines each round, which seems like a very common mix of options. Whether it’s the wilds, free spins, scatters or the extra wilds that can be activated, the features look typical for a modern slot machine. I did enjoy the chance at a 2,000x top payout though, it’s a decent-sized jackpot.
Setting up the bet in Asgard’s Thunder will involve setting up the amount which will go to each line, not the number of lines. You spend up to $2 per line, which means that your complete betting range will be $0.20 to $40.
Only one symbol will be capable of paying the game’s best prize, which gives you 100x total stake on each line, and that’s the wild Thor’s Hammer. Since in theory you could get wilds to cover all 15 positions, and form 20 wins, the game could offer up to 2,000x rewards, or $80,000. It might not seem very likely for the base game, but as you’ll find out, it’s a different story in the free spins mode.
At first, you will not find a lot to love about the features offered in this game. Give it a bit though, once you get to the free spins, it becomes a lot more fun.
The wild symbol is one of the major features that you’re going to be able to use inside. It takes the form of the Wild logo, placed against Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, and it can be part of any winning combination that is formed on regular lines. It’s also the kind of wild that can act as its own symbol, so with up to five lined up together, the game offers prizes of up to 100x.
Scatters will also appear inside, and the game will give them the image of the Hand of Thor. Once you land three such symbols in view, the game will reward you with 8 free spins. All the high value symbols, meaning the Vase, Cup, Treasure and Thor, will be turned into Mjolnir Wilds, for the entire duration of this feature. You’re left with a lot of wild symbols and the low value Royals. This means that you get a lot more smaller wins, but there is also a better chance at landing the game’s biggest payouts.
Asgard’s Thunder will offer a theme that most players seem to like, and the inspiration for it comes from Thor, one of the most popular gods from the Viking mythology. We see him in one of the symbols, along with images of treasures, cups or a vase. The low value icons are the ones getting images of Royals though, and they’re not at all attractive. Feature symbols show the Mjolnir Wild and the Hand of Thor scatter. The graphics quality is not very high, but it’s doing its job well enough.
Asgard’s Thunder will prove to be a game with adequate graphics and features, becoming even exciting at times. I’ve enjoyed seeing a good top payout as well, along with a better chance of triggering it in certain moments.
