Chinese Zodiac Slot Review
|Betting Range (€/$)||0.25 - 12.50|
The Chinese Zodiac is the inspiration for this latest game from GameArt, a developer that is launching its second Chinese themed slot in a row. They went for a look that makes the animals that appear there almost possessed.
This is going to be a 5-reel slot machine, which has 25 win lines to offer. The game will make use of them and give back rewards of up to $250, or up to $6,250 in a single round (500x the stake). Among its features, GameArt incorporated the Second Chance Stacks, free spins, scatters and even wilds.
Betting and Prizes
Like in all GameArt slots that I’ve seen so far, the range for its bets will go from $0.25 to $12.50. All the lines are active and they each get bets between $0.01 and $0.50. With 25 lines, this results in the kind of bets that I mentioned above.
As for the rewards that you might get out of this game, the Rat will be the one to deliver the best rewards. Its combinations will pay up to $250, meaning 500x the line bet. Since you can get an entire screen filled with symbols and 25 lines of this value, the highest win possible is $6,250.
Chinese Zodiac Slot Features
Two majestic creatures from the Chinese Zodiac will be major features that you will love to get, and I’m talking here about the Dragon (wild) and the Tiger (bonus).
Dragon Wilds are used on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, which means automatically that you don’t get paid by them since they will not form their own wins, they will just contribute to others as substitutes. This will not happen where Bonus Tigers are concerned.
The Bonus Tiger is also limited to only some of the reels, the ones from columns 1, 2 and 3.
Second Chance Stacks is a feature that you trigger when you have two of the first three reels completely covered by a stacked symbol, the same one. Ideally, the stacked symbol will be the Bonus Tiger, as all reels that don’t have it will get the Chinese Doors on them. If it’s not the Bonus Tiger, then the first reel that doesn’t have a stacked symbol will get a Chinese Door. Each covered reel gets the wheel with the Chinese Zodiac, which spins and shows a symbol that is compatible with the stacked symbol. The chosen symbol appears then on that reel, in all positions.
Once the Second Chance Stack ends, if you get 3 to 5 reels with Bonus Tigers on them, then you trigger 9 to 15 free spins. These spins use a different set of reels.
Chinese Zodiac has both regular and unique elements in it, though the Second Chance Stack feature feels somewhat complex and it requires way too many explanations to understand. Luckily, you don’t need to know how it works in order to take advantage of it.
Theme & Design
GameArt seems to love Chinese themed slots lately, as they chose one again in this case. The Chinese Zodiac has been covered in the past by other games, but in the version from this developer those 12 creatures look almost possessed, as they feature white eyes. Dragons, Tigers, Rats, Rabbits, Horses, Bulls, Snakes, Goats, Monkeys, Roosters, Dogs and Pigs are all present as symbols.
Chinese Zodiac does alright in most areas, offers a good design and includes some features that are more complicated than they need to be. An OK game, not a great one.
