Mythical Treasure Slot Machine Review

Mythical Treasure blends the medieval and fantasy genres together, and what results is a latest slot machine where we have heroes and castles, but also a gryphon and mythological lions, or unicorns. It’s an EGT release, of decent quality and above average rewards, at least for the amount of risk involved with it. Not a bad title overall, but I will leave it up to the review, to draw the conclusions.

You are getting a slot machine with 5x3 reels and 25 active lines, a fairly common setup, but one that can bring you rewards of up to 1,000x the stake, along with the usual EGT progressive jackpots. The slot offers stacked wilds, scatters and free spins as well, all decent features and OK to have around, even if innovation is not really attempted here (they do include Toppling Reels, which doesn’t appear to be a standard option in most slots of theirs).

Betting and Prizes

Five different Spin buttons are shown at the bottom, each one with a different number of coins that will be used. Rather than change the bet and then click on Spin, here you only get to modify the coin value, after which you click on the appropriate Spin option. It’s backwards and counter-intuitive, but EGT does this in all their games. The wager range is between 25 and 500 coins per spin, with coin denominations likely going from $0.01 to $1 ($0.25 to $500 betting range).

As for the payouts that can be delivered, the potential in this one is to pay up to 1,000x the stake. The game’s paytable doesn’t mention a lower cap, so I assume that’s the most that can be won. The standard EGT progressive jackpots are also available inside, to be triggered at random through a standard feature.

It should also be noted that the game’s volatility is low-medium (2 out of 5 rating), so there isn’t that much risk in the short run for its players.

Mythical Treasure Game Features

One of the more unusual features that I’ve found in Mythical Treasure, though not uncommon these days, is the one called Toppling Reels. You might get these as Tumbling Reels, Cascading Reels or Exploding Reels at other developers, but the underlying mechanic is similar in each case. Winning symbols will be removed from the game, new ones get to land on the reels, and then additional combinations may form. For as long as new wins form, the Toppling Reels keep activating.

A Phoenix bird, rising from the ashes, is the slot’s wild. A stacked symbol, which you may get on the last four reels, it has the ability to take over entire reels. It’s not a replacement for a scatter, and it doesn’t pay anything on its own, but it’s quite powerful nonetheless.

The other major feature symbol, is the scatter with the image of a Castle. Have three of those show up, only on the reels 1, 3 and 5, to trigger 7 free spins. The other way to get the free spins to trigger, is at random, something that you don’t see too often. It’s possible to retrigger the feature as well, and you get 7 extra spins added to the total then.

One more feature has been implemented, the one which gives you one of the four mystery progressive jackpots. It’s randomly triggered though, so you don’t get the impression that your luck has much control over it.

Theme & Design

As I’ve mentioned above, it’s a medieval game in most respects, but with fantasy elements. Some creatures are mentioned in the mythology of Ancient Greece. The design quality is pretty good, a lot better than in many EGT slots with a more classic heritage. Here, as major symbols we discover the Phoenix Wild, Castle scatters, while regulars include images of the Hero, Princess, Lion, Gryphon, Unicorn and the four top Royals (J to A).

Conclusion

Mythical Treasure could very well be a fun EGT game for its players, especially since it doesn’t have high volatility, and the rewards are better than expected by the looks of it. Even the features can work out, though there is nothing special about them. I appreciated the inclusion of Toppling Reels here, it’s something that I enjoy using in many games, as it can result in winning streaks.
