While some games might have you digging for gold, with Hope Diamond it’s precious stones that you’re trying to pull out of the ground. The design is that of a diamond mine, with mining carts, beautiful women and horses part of the design, to name just a few. It’s a slot with decent potential and higher risk involved, a Blueprint Gaming release that’s sure to get some players interested.
Hope Diamond is a 5-reel game, with 4 rows of symbols, which will offer 20 active lines. It has medium-high volatility, but that’s not as much of an issue, given the absolute beast of a top prize, which can go as high as 50,000x the stake. Also, the RTP is at 96.51%, another point in its favor. The big features that were announced for it will include such things as stacked symbols, Lightning Spins, scatters and a Bonus Meter.
As 20 active lines are needed each round, the wagers have 20 coins in them. The range’s start is from $0.20, which is fairly predictable, while the maximum value reached is $500 ($25 per line).
The game’s going to be fairly risky to play, since the volatility has been described as medium-high. It’s not going to any extremes though, and yet it can deliver a jackpot of 50,000x the stake, should the absolute best scenario happen. It’s always nice when you can play with such a big target in front of your eyes, even if it’s out of reach.
Long-term, we know that the game is expected to pay back about 96.51% to the players, so the RTP is above average.
The stacked symbols are a big part of the reason why the game is getting higher volatility, since while they can also deliver wins on multiple lines when they line up the way you need them to, there is also the fact that it makes it more difficult for single combinations to form.
A Wild symbol, the one showing you the image of a bundle of dynamite, gets you prizes of up to 500x, along with the usual role of the substitute which can help lower value icons to form combinations. Of course, it’s not going to replace the Diamond scatter.
The Lightning Spins are going to require Diamond scatters on the reels, and at least 6 will have to be present in a single round. If that happens, a re-spin feature triggers first, in an attempt to bring additional Diamonds, while the ones you already got are locked in their spots. For each Diamond that shows up, the feature will give you a cash prize, at the end. It’s a Hold and Win-style feature, so you get 3 respins during which you need to get more Diamonds, so that you can reset the number of rounds.
If you get fewer than 6 Diamond symbols, don’t despair, they can still be used. You simply collect them in a special meter, and once it’s full, you can trigger a Lightning Spins bonus.
Expect to find a diamond mine for the slot’s background, while on the reels a lot of the symbols will have a connection to mining in general. There is a young female adventurer on the reels, her horse, mining carts filled with diamonds, along with lamps, heart-shaped gemstones and the game logo. The unrelated icons will have the usual Royals appearing on the reels.
While I found the top symbols to be decently made, the ones of lower value are not as interesting obviously. It’s an adequate design, but definitely not one of the best ones.
Hope Diamond has the kind of top jackpot that could motivate any player, but at the same time it fails in delivering some actually interesting features. The bonus game it uses is found in dozens of other slots these days, and the only other feature used is a simple wild. Other than that, it’s hard not to be motivated by a 50,000x jackpot and a 96.51% RTP, the game does well there.
