The Hive is a Betsoft Gaming slot, scheduled for release during the summer of 2020. It’s bee themed, it takes us to their hive and turns it into a set of reels, and then includes a regular payline system to allow it to form winning combinations. It’s colorful, cartoon-style and it has plenty of good features.
Though quite unusual to look at, The Hive ends up with a regular system that offers 30 active lines on its 5 reels. With Spreading Wilds, Sticky Sweet Free Spins, and the different types of bees that will help out along the way, it’s a slot machine that pays quite often, and so it has a very high RTP at 96.97%, and yet a relatively low top jackpot of 378x the stake ($30,240).
A list of all available betting options will be available for you to choose from, at the bottom of the screen. Low rollers and casual players will be happy with the $0.10 minimum, while high rollers will likely appreciate the other end of the range, at $90 per spin.
When it comes to payouts, The Hive is not the type of slot machine that could be described as exciting. You can win at most 378x the stake in a single spin, which means that the actual cash value taken home is worth at most $30,280.
The slot’s not very volatile, and even better, it has an excellent calculated RTP, at 96.97%.
It’s a bee hive-themed slot machine, so it feels quite natural to have a game area that takes the form of hexahedron clusters. You have five rows of symbols, with 3-4-5-4-3 symbols present on them. A total of 19 symbol positions are in the game area, and they are going to be used to form regular combinations on the 30 lines which are available. For this, you will need several matching symbols to be next to each other in predetermined positions. When this happens, they will form their combinations and you get paid accordingly. The value of the rewards will depend on the number of symbols and on their type.
There are three types of randomly occurring Bees that can show up, delivering certain features as they do so. The Queen Bee brings a swarm of bees around the Hive, Drone Bees fill the Honey Meter, while Worker Bees add a stacking multiplier which takes their number into account.
Drone Bees will fill a special Honey Meter, triggering the free spins once this happens. You will receive 5 free spins then.
As you’re using the free spins, there are up to three Honey Burst Spreading Wilds which can appear in the area. They spread to nearby positions after each round, until the free spins are over. They can have quite the impact on the outcome of a free spin.
You can expect the game to have a bee theme, and for the action to take place in their hive. It’s been transformed into a set of reels that will resemble a bee hive, but it keeps the regular paylines system in place. The symbols will be Royals made out of honey in some cases, while in others you will notice flowers (purple, red, white) and various tiny insects (ladybugs, bees). If you look behind those reels, you find green fields and bees coming in. A jar that fills with honey can be seen on the right side of the screen.
The Hive slot could be loads of fun, but only for casual players. It's very low potential will keep plenty of veterans away, but I doubt it’s been designed with them in mind anyway. Those looking to relax at the end of a hard day will find this bee-themed slot machine enjoyable.
