Miles Bellhouse and the Gears of Time by its full name, though you might see it called just Gears of Time, is a sequel from Betsoft, a new slot machine which Miles Bellhouse and Gizmo traveling through time. It’s got a steampunk style design, it has plenty of cogs and wheels to show for it, and it delivers a good mix of features and fun graphics, just what we expect to see from Betsoft.

Gears of Time delivers 5x5 reels, on which you will be able to form your winning clusters of symbols, to get paid up to 1,084x the stake. Miles Bellhouse and the Gears of Time relies on an unusual Cluster Pays system. They actually call it Clusters of Time, where we find the main character experimenting with time. The process involves the game choosing 5 positions in the game area, and as each cascade completes, there is a chance that one of these locations will get a winning cluster.

Get 1 or more clusters on the selected positions, to increase the chances of a Time Traveling modifier to trigger. If that happens for all 5 marked positions, then you get into the free spins.

There are three potential Time Travel modifiers, which could trigger. The odds are somewhere between 0.29% and 1.37%, for the three, with the Past being the easiest to get.

• The Past: gives you a re-play of the last round. As the spin ends, a cascade with non-matching symbols triggers, and the odds of winning improve then. This happens a total of 5 times, before you get paid.
• The Present: the wins of the current round will get a multiplier of 2x to 20x, at random. It’s the least likely modifier, triggering about in 1 out of every 330+ spins (0.29% chance).
• The Future: picks one of the symbols present on the reels, and triggers a free respin with a lot of symbols of that type on the reels (10+ will land).

If you get the five special positions covered by wins in the same round, you trigger the free spins, which will occur in one of the three time streams.

• 12 Past Free Spins with extra re-cascade each round.
• 10 Present Free Spins, with a random multiplier of up to 20x applied to wins.
• 6 Future Free Spins, with 10+ symbols of the same type added to the game area eachspin.

Theme & Design

We’ve first seen Miles Bellhouse as a time traveling inventor in a slot called The Curious Machine, which was released back in 2012. It’s been about 8 years since then, and Betsoft is offering us a sequel. Miles and his robot, Gizmo, are going to travel in time once again. The means are the same, a time travel machine that he built himself, and the design for it is just as steampunk-inspired as in the past.

The cogs and wheels are part of the background, but they’re major symbols as well. They might be colored in bronze, steel or gold, but they’re all there. Other symbols range from images of Miles and Gizmo, to portals, pocket watches and some of the machine’s parts.

Conclusion

I think that it’s going to be loads of fun for most players, as a slot machine with a long list of potential features, with one of the highest RTP settings I’ve seen this year, and with the usual excellent graphics that are a Betsoft guarantee when it comes to this series.
