Kensei Blades Slot Review & Free Demo Game

Kensei Blades Slot Machine Review

Kensei Blades promises to be an exciting release, for fans of the Japanese Samurai. Betsoft is looking to launch this slot machine in Q2 of 2022. The word Kensei is an honorary title that the Japanese use for warriors that show legendary swordsmanship (translates as Sword Saint). Given the title of Kensei Blades, I’m expecting the famous Japanese swords to be front and center here, along with the warriors that use them. This one could be popular with both Western and Eastern audiences.

You’re playing with 5 reels (3-4-5-4-3 symbols) and a total of 720 ways to win (pay both ways) are made possible by that unusual layout. With a top prize of 3,414x the stake, medium volatility, and a 95.12% RTP, there is room for better in some of those areas, particularly in the RTP. A couple of powerful features are used, such as the Kensei scatters, free spins, and Sakura wilds.

Betting and Prizes

A bit more expensive than other slot machines, Kensei Blades requires at least $0.50 in its bets, but it could also go up to $100.

The prizes, which can go up to 3,414x the round’s stake, look appropriate for a slot machine where the volatility is medium. On the other hand, there is also a 95.12% Return to Player, and that figure is quite far away from the average and the kind of return that we’d like to see.

Kensei Blades Game Features

One important aspect of the way Kensei Blades is played is the ways-to-win system that is used inside. 720 ways to win are available, even though the setup is unusual. Even better, the wins form both ways, so right to left as well, not just left to right.

Sakura Wild symbols will land only on reels 2, 3, and 4. From there, they are to be used only as substitutes for regular symbols.

One of the two other feature symbols used in the game is the Kensei one. Shows us the warrior, its only role is to pay whenever it lands 3 to 5 times on the reels, in any position. The rewards are worth between 2x and 50x the stake, depending on the exact number of symbols visible at the time.

Showing two crossed swords, the Free Spin symbol is another bonus trigger, landing anywhere on the reels, potentially several times per column. You need at least 5 symbols forming a combo across all 5 reels, to trigger the free spins. You receive 8 free spins for each such combo, and up to 96 free spins total could be awarded in a single round. You then retrigger the feature, and you could have up to 240 free spins total eventually.

Theme & Design

Kensei and Sakura are the two main characters in this story, of Japanese origins, and designed with Anime-style graphics. High-quality graphics are used everywhere, both around and on the reels.

If you check out its symbols, you will find that the images used include pink hearts, green stars, a blue moon, the sun, a helmet, shield, staff, and sword. Specials come from the Free Spin symbols (crossed swords), the Kensei Wild, and the Sakura scatter.

Conclusion

Overall, I found this new release from Betsoft to be quite enjoyable, and a slot machine that will be loved by the Western, as much as by the Eastern players. The RTP is the only big downside I see there.
