Book of Helios Slot Review & Free Demo Game

Book of Helios Slot Machine Review

We’ve seen a lot of other Book style slot machines released already, even in the past year, so Betsoft’s upcoming release in this category is not exactly surprising. There are certain elements that help make the free spins better, but for the most part, the game is not that different from those that came before it. The Book of Helios suggests a connection to the Greek gods, particularly to their Sun God, one of the Titans.

Book of Helios comes with 5x3 reels, a game area that is populated with 10 win lines. Where this slot machine blows the competition out of the water, is in its potential, with wins of 20,168x the stake being possible. Even with that kind of reward, the RTP isn’t the best one around, with only 95.58% going back to players. For the most part, its features are the expected ones, ranging from mixed scatter/wilds, to free spins with expanding symbols and expanding wilds.

Betting and Prizes

Since there are 10 lines active in the Book of Helios, you are using 10 coins each round. With denominations between $0.01 and $1, the total goes from $0.10 to $10.

One of the major strengths of this slot machine is that it can pay a lot better than the majority of its Book-style competitors. Wins of 20,168x the wager are possible, and it’s understandable once you figure out that there are expanding multiplier wilds boosting rewards by up to 5x during free spins.

It’s still a highly volatile slot machine, and the 95.58% RTP is lower than most in this category, so there are some areas where I would’ve liked to see improvements.

Book of Helios Game Features

Initially, the features of Book of Helios are the same ones we’ve seen in previous slots of this type. It all starts with the mixed scatter/wild symbol, the one showing the image of the Book on it. One difference is that you get it only on reels 2-4 here, so it doesn’t pay anything directly.

With all three Book symbols present, you’re going to gain access to 10 free spins. First, the game picks a regular symbol and makes it able to expand. This special symbol will take over its reels at the end of the round, and if there are 2-3 or more of them, then you get paid. At this point, you just need the right number of reels covered by special symbols, it doesn’t matter if they’re lined up from left to right. They pay on all 10 lines then, even if they’re not connected.

There is one more thing here, which is special about this game. The Book of Helios symbol may still land, but now it expands on its reel as well. A 1x to 5x multiplier is applied by it to wins. Multiplier values are multiplied with each other, so with three wilds, the combinations could get boosts of up to 125x.

Theme & Design

With an image of Helios at the top and stone horse statues on both sides, the design of this slot machine manages to leave a decent first impression. The high quality of the design is visible in the premium symbols as well, but the Royals all sport a similar look, and they’re far from interesting.

First of all, there are six low-value Royals, the usual ones from 9 to A. Four premium symbols are next, with a whip, a bow and arrow, a modern female adventurer, and Helios himself.

Conclusion

Overall, I think that it’s one of those Book-style releases that are definitely worth checking out. The presence of multiplier wilds and the resulting bigger wins are sure to make players want to try it out.
