Shadow Gods will take on a theme that’s been quite popular in the online casino industry, that of the deities of Ancient Egypt. We see them once again as main symbols in a slot machine, along with plenty of other typical icons that are often found in games covering that era. It’s not that special if we look at graphics alone, but luckily we’re getting a lot more than just a boring theme from this new RTG slot.

Shadow Gods has 5x3 reels, and gives us 50 active lines, quite a bit more compared with the offer from other slots of similar size. Up to 800x payouts, in a slot which has Medium volatility, is a bit on the low side as far as rewards go. Luckily, there are a lot of cool features that a player can get along the way, and I would mention here the two wilds which are nudged to cover the full reels that they’re on, along with the Mask scatters, Coin feature with re-spins, or the free spins which get either Treasure Spins or Wild Reels.

Betting and Prizes

Managing to cover 50 active lines, the bet per spin will have a range of $1 to $200, which would mean that up to $4 may be used for each one.

Payout wise, the very best winning combinations that the slot has to offer, will give you only 800 coins. Get the reels covered, and wilds may help you there, to win up to 800x the stake in a single spin. Not a very exciting payout, unfortunately, and a lot of other Medium volatility slots manage to do even better.

Shadow Gods Slot Features

First, let’s take a look at the stacked wilds, symbols which appear on reel 2 (Horus) and 4 (Anubis). These two get the benefit of the Nudging Wild feature, so they are pushed into position and cover their reels when they make an appearance.

Having 6+ Eye of Ra Coins appear on the reels, will get you into the Coin feature. It includes 3 re-spins, with the Coins sticky, and you’re trying to get more. Fill the reels with Coins, to get the Grand Bonus, or win the values listed on the Coins.

Mask scatters can appear once on each reel. You get 3 to 5, to win a prize of 2x to 100x the stake, along with access to the free spins.

One version of the free spins is called Wild Reels. It has 6 free spins for you, where the 2nd and 4th reel wilds are sticky.

The other one is Treasure Spins, also with 6 rounds. Here, you will find that the Coins are sticky on the 5th reel, when they appear. This makes it easier for the Coin feature to trigger along the way.

Theme & Design

It’s a very common theme, based on Ancient Egypt and its deities. About the only thing that this game changes, is the time, as the action takes place at night. The pyramids are visible behind the reels, which are encased in a temple-like structure. The big symbols are the Mask scatters, Horus and Anubis reel-sized wilds, Eye of Ra Coins, Horus & Anubis together, Cleopatra, Cobra and Scarab. Low symbols show up as Royals.

Shadow Gods looks like it can be an interesting game, with several decent features and a medium volatility that will not drive too many players away. I’m not a fan of its top payouts, I want more from a slot of this type.
