Coming in the footsteps of the original Totem Lightning, Power Reels is a new release from Red Tiger Gaming and a highly unusual slot machine, no matter whose standards you’re using to judge that. The number of reels and the features are the ones that will amaze, and the high 7,777x potential will convince a lot of players that it’s worth trying out.
Yes, you’re seeing it right, this is a game with 8 reels, it has 6 symbols per column and with 30 active lines it feels like it doesn’t give you as many opportunities to form a combination as it should in such a huge area. It’s not allowing for huge bets to be placed, but even so it has the potential to pay up to $77,770 in a single round. As big features, there are the Symbol Strike Bar and the random Lightning Strike.
Betting and Prizes
The total stake is the one that seems to matter most in this game. It starts at the $0.20 mark, and the value for it can get up to $10. The line bet will apparently get up to $0.50.
Now, for prizes, the combinations that form with 8 matching symbols on the same line can pay 3,000x at most, which should mean $1,500 from each one. With various features involved, the maximum win potential is 7,777x the stake, or up to $77,770.
Totem Lightning Slot Features
The game will be played like regular slots are, so you need to form a combo with 3+ matching symbols, on one of the 30 active lines. The difference is that you can have up to 8 symbols in a combination. The symbols are stacked, coming in different sizes and sometimes being capable even of covering entire reels. As such, wins will often come your way on multiple lines at the same time. Winning combinations will result in the removal of the involved symbols, which lets new symbols come in and maybe form other wins.
The Symbol Strike Bar is the one you see on the right. It has the Royals on it, and whenever these symbols form combinations, they are going to be removed from the reels. Falling symbols will come in and hopefully will continue to get you additional small wins, so that those can be removed as well. The idea is that you can eventually get all low symbols removed, leaving the high-paying ones with more room to form combinations on. Unfortunately, the feature resets once the round ends, and you start over in the next spin.
Another cool feature, but a random one this time, involves the Lightning Strike that hits the reels and removes low-paying symbols directly, basically giving you access to the Symbol Strike Bar without having the symbols form wins beforehand. The same lightning feature can also clone symbols, to help you form wins.
Theme & Design
Wild animals are your totems, the high paying symbols that show things like eagles, panthers, a raccoon or crabs. The other five low-paying positions have Royals, but well-designed ones, I’ll give them that at least. It’s a game that uses wilderness in the background and which has Native American decorations placed all around its game area. The design is very good, and the 8x6 reels make a big impression thanks to the amount of screen space that they occupy.
With Totem Lightning: Power Reels, Red Tiger Gaming made sure that the original game got a great sequel. It’s a unique game, with big potential, and it can be quite fun.
