Funsize Fireworks, a previous release from Realistic, is getting a second version, this time in a Game Changer edition which incorporates a bonus feature into it. It’s something that Realistic has been doing for a couple of their games, as we’ve seen Game Changer being added to slots like Bar X or Hot Cross Bunnies. Mostly they’re re-using the graphics from older games, to put out new content, which might work out for them, though the look of a 5-year old slot machine is not the best choice typically.

Fireworks: Game Changer gives the player a setup with 5 reels and 20 lines, capable of delivering wins of up to 20,000x the stake. If this sounds like a game with high volatility to you, I wouldn’t blame you, and yet the developer claims that it’s got only medium risk. RTP is set to 96.10%, while as features we rely on wild symbols and on the Game Changer bonus.

Betting and Prizes

The full range of the betting system is fairly limited. The starting point is at $0.05, while the upper limit is set to $5.

The payouts look great in Fireworks: Game Changer, or at least their potential is impressive. Up to 1,000x the round’s stake can be paid by a single combo of wild symbols, and up to 20,000x is available if you fill the reels with such symbols. That’s a jackpot of up to $100,000.

It’s not going to be easy to get paid well here though, and in my experience winning is going to be difficult. With blocker symbols landing often on the reels, even the lowest value combinations are tough to reach. Nevertheless, it’s described as a game with medium volatility, and a 96.10% RTP.

Fireworks Game Changer Slot Features

The Wild Fireworks Rocket is going to be your favorite, as both a substitute and the top jackpot symbol. Ideally, you want it forming its own combinations, but if not, then it’s still useful as a replacement for a lower win.

The game relies heavily on blocker symbols, the ones showing stars, basically being used as blanks that will not pay anything. They show up often enough that they turn this into a high volatility game for me. However, should you get to a spin where the middle positions on reels 2, 3 and 4 are blockers, while all other symbols are regular symbols in a board game-like setup, then you trigger the Game Changer.

Game Changer is a bonus game, which relies on the throw of random dice, to move you forward. The triggering symbols are used on the board to form a Multiplier Trail, in accordance to the paytable values listed (1x to 5x the bet).

The throw of the dice determines how many positions you move on the board. Depending on the spot where you land, it can be a good (safe) or a bad spot. Each time that you land in a safe spot, the number on it is reduced by 1, until it reaches 0, at which point it is no longer safe for you.

And then, you also have the Multiplier Trail, on which you get paid as you land on symbols on the board. That symbol is added to the right side, while the leftmost symbol from the Trail gets removed. If you get a consecutive number of similar symbols, then a multiplier is available, and it gets up to 10x at most.

Theme & Design

It’s mostly the design from Fireworks that we’re seeing here, and at this point it’s already 5 years old. It wasn’t modern even when it was first released, but now it just looks dated. The Fireworks Rocket is your wild, while lucky 7s, gold bars, cash, diamonds, three types of gemstones, as well as various symbols that are board game related, will be those filling up the reels. Of course, you also get those blocker Stars, useless symbols that are just there to annoy you.

All in all, not a game that I had fun with. Wins didn’t come easily, and the feature is even tougher to trigger. Once you do get it, it’s overly complicated and after reading a couple of pages of rules and explanations, you’re going to want to start over. Of course, you don’t need to understand the bonus game in order to play through it, as it all happens automatically, but it’s still not necessary to complicate a game that should be fun, in such a way.
