The Dark Knight Slot Machine

The Dark Knight is coming to our screens once again, this time as a new slot machine that is being released by Playtech. Following two other games that Microgaming released with the same brand, we’re now seeing the same title launched by a different developer and part of their DC Comics Universe series, including its progressive jackpots.

Playtech’s The Dark Knight is a game that features 50 pay lines on 6 reels, so it’s already looking like a unique release. This is a game with four progressive jackpots that are part of all DC Comics titles, but it also has its own rewards to give away, of up to 1,500x. Moving on to features, that’s where you will find Bonus Bat symbols, free games with locked wilds and other extra features, wild symbols and various scatters.

Betting and Prizes

The total bet is selected directly, from an option that will open up from the left side of the screen if you’re on a mobile device. The total bet shown there varies from $0.20 to $15. You have 50 lines to cover, so each one gets a relatively small amount, between $0.004 and $0.30.

The actual amount that you can win from a slot with 50 lines and small wagers is not huge, reaching only $450 per combo, but there are also the four DC Comics progressive jackpots to consider. Those have seed values as high as 200,000 EUR, so even if they’re won, they start over from a huge amount anyway. The Grand Jackpot is the main one, the others offering much smaller values.

With the progressive jackpots included, the total RTP of the slot is set to 95.96%. Without them, the RTP drops to 94.97% (contribution of the jackpot is 0.99%). Not a very high number then, but it’s one of the few progressive jackpots that is worth high six or low seven figures.

The Dark Knight Slot Features

The feature list is a major strength that The Dark Knight has, at least in this Playtech version.

I’d mention the Bat Sign Wild first, as a wild symbol that you can get to replace most symbols in the game, excluding the scatters of course. Wilds are available on the middle four reels.

The same Bat Sign comes in a couple of other versions, both marked Bonus, but in different colors. One is present on reels 2+3 and gets you The Dark Knight Free Games. The other triggers the Agent of Chaos feature, by appearing on reels 4+5. If you get both types of scatters, you get the Gotham City Free Games instead.

Should Batman appear stacked and covering reel 1, it will be locked on the reels along with the wilds, and then a coin is tossed. One side will get the reels to spin again with the two symbols locked, while the other side just gives you the win.

A similar Respin feature is also available from the Joker, but this symbol is needed stacked on the 6th reel.

Theme & Design

The theme is clear for this particular slot machine, the movie from 2008 being the one that inspired it. As such, you see on its reels images of the main actors, including Batman (with or without mask), the Joker, various Bat sign logos, Commissioner Gordon and others. They still had room to include some light-blue playing cards which don’t look impressive at all.

Conclusion

All in all, it’s a game with a lot to offer, a slot that Playtech invested quite a bit of time in. It has progressive jackpots, multiple complex features and decent graphics.
