Pyramid Linx Slot Machine Review

Playtech has its fair share of unusual slot machines, and a perfect example of that is Pyramid Linx. The slot’s machine’s 5 reels are not all of the same size, and the effect is an interesting one. More on how that works in our review, below.

Pyramid Linx comes up with 5 reels, of 2-2-3-4-5 symbols, and you will find just 20 active lines on them. Through the Grand Jackpot, wins of 2,000x the stake may be paid out to players, and the RTP is 95.95% for a high volatility environment. You will discover a couple of features as well, including an X symbol as a wild, along with a Gold X version, Circles, the Wild LinX, regular and wild pyramids, as well as free spins.

Betting and Prizes

The wagers that you may select in Pyramid Linx will be worth at least $0.10, and at most $450.

You’re looking at the fixed Grand Jackpot, as the one most capable of paying you well. 2,000x the stake is the prize that’s available through it, but that’s just the top, and other jackpots or combinations will pay less. Regular combinations seem to pay at most 150x the stake (7.5x per line).

If you look at the high volatility rating of the game, the jackpot doesn’t look as good. RTP can be acceptable though, if it’s at 95.95%.

Pyramid Linx Game Features

Pyramid Linx comes with more feature symbols than the regular slot, and many of them take on roles as substitutes.

The X is one example, a substitute symbol which may show up on reels 2-5. It’s not a replacement for any other feature symbol.

Gold X is the second wild, which is also a replacement on reels 2-5, and it has the same limitations as the regular X.

A Circle with an Egyptian winged decoration is a bonus symbol, which can land on reels 1 or 2. When combined with one of the X symbols, it triggers a feature called Wild LinX (needs all 5 reels to have at least 1 of these three types of symbols). You make some picks here, until you find all prizes hidden behind Gold X or X symbols.

Pyramid Scatters can show up on all reels, and they’re useful if they’re present on at least 3. You get the free spins then, along with a prize that could reach 100x the stake. A choice has to be made, between the two variants of free spins:

X Free Games, with 5 rounds available. It’s easier to get access to Wild LinX in this feature, and you can also retrigger it via 3+ Pyramid scatters.

Book Free Games, with 10 rounds. Uses 5x3 reels and Wild Pyramids rather than regular Pyramid scatters. It’s a Book-style mechanic, where a special expanding symbol is chosen, gaining the ability to take over all positions on its reels. A different paytable is used for this mode.

Wild Pyramid symbols are both substitutes and scatters, paying up to 100x when they’re present up to five times, but also acting as a replacement when possible. These are available during Book free spins only. These are also capable of retriggering the feature.

Theme & Design

It’s an unusual design, but it looks in part like a classic, even though there is quite a bit of Ancient Egypt imagery in it as well. The background looks like it’s part of some game show studio, while on the reels there is a mix of card suits in lesser symbols, and themed Egyptian icons for the top ones. The latter have the Ankh, Lotus, Horus, Eye of Ra, and Snake. Various feature symbols are used, ranging from X Wilds, to Pyramid scatters or scatter/wilds.

Conclusion

Pyramid Linx is a good online slot in the end, even though the Ancient Egypt feel doesn’t do anything for it. The unusual layout and its features make all the difference, and I wouldn’t count on its top jackpot to motivate anyone.
