If Halloween is coming, you can count on developers launching new slot machines for this holiday. Playtech didn’t miss the chance this year, and they came up with Pumpkin Bonanza, a classic slot which focuses on the scary Jack-O-Lantern for the main character and on a graveyard style background.
While it’s not the type of game to offer a lot of wins, having only 10 lines on 5 reels, the ones you get can be quite impressive, as the game’s maximum potential is 2,000x the stake, and you can turn the maximum bet into a payout of $1,000,000. Other than that, the features which are available will give you Pumpkin Wilds and Bonanza Spins.
Betting and Prizes
The start of the betting range is at a very low point, just $0.10 being sufficient to activate the 10 lines, each one receiving $0.01. The other end of the range is at a much higher $500, in which case you’d wager $50 per line. The lines you use are fixed, always 10 being available.
There are some impressive payouts to be had in Pumpkin Bonanza. With up to 2,000x the stake paid in a single spin, your Halloween could get a lot better, and you could take home even up to $1,000,000.
The slot’s RTP is not very high, despite the big potential, and it’s announced at 95.51% by the developer. It’s slightly lower than I’d want it to be, but it can still work.
Pumpkin Bonanza Slot Features
You get only 10 lines, but the developer chose to allow winning combinations to form starting from either side, so you should be getting more prizes than in other games with this sort of layout. You still need a minimum of three symbols to start from the left or the right, to get paid. Also, the game will only pay once per line, so you don’t get two prizes for a single combo of five symbols.
Moving on to regular features, expect to see Pumpkin Wilds in the game, substitutes which are used in mixes done with any other symbols. Symbols are going to be transformed into Pumpkin Wilds on reel 3, if there are potential wins to be had, starting from either side of the screen. You can get these wilds on the middle three reels as regular symbols as well.
A Bonanza Spin is activated if you get a win in both directions during a round. The symbols which formed winning combinations during the triggering round are turned into Pumpkin Wilds on the middle three reels of the Bonanza Spin. The order in which the reels will spin for this feature will start with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels, then the 1st, and finally the 5th reel.
Theme & Design
The theme is the expected one for Halloween, inspired by the carved pumpkin turned into evil character, but also of various other expected images. You get the high-paying witch on a broom icon, a close-up of an attractive witch, a scarecrow, followed by the four card suits. The Pumpkin is the final symbol, used as the wild.
Look beyond the reels, to find the image of a graveyard which has lots of pumpkins on the ground. It’s looking creepy, just what the developer went for with this image.
Pumpkin Bonanza will be a fairly interesting game to play, though the explanations for its features are slightly confusing. I love the big rewards that it can offer though.
