Maji Wilds Slot Machine
Maji Wilds has been turned by Playtech into a slot machine with a Voodoo theme, with the aim of attracting the Halloween crowd, since the game was released in October 2017. The slot machine that was created looks the part fortunately, with creepy images being shown in most symbols and with the background and features contributing as well.
The slot is offered with 5x4 reels, so bigger than the standard, but also with 50 lines that combinations may form on. There are only average rewards to be had here, of up to $5,000, but with features relying heavily on wilds of about five different types, each one with another power to apply.
Betting and Prizes
Betting wise, you are relying on 50 fixed lines, while deciding what the line bet should be only. You start off at a minimum of $0.01 per line, which means that you can spend at least $0.50. At the other end of the spectrum there are line bets of $1, turning the total into a value of $50.
You don’t have hugely impressive payouts in Maji Wilds, the jackpot being worth 1,000 coins and coming from a regular combo of symbols. With the denomination set to just $1, the prize can’t have a value higher than $1,000 normally. A multiplier from the wild, of up to 5x, could potentially increase it to $5,000 though.
Maji Wilds Slot Machine Features
The game’s title doesn’t use the word Wilds in it for nothing. This slot machine relies heavily on this type of feature, even though you’re going to see it appear only in one symbol on the reels. At the start of any feature, wild symbols are going to have images of Voodoo Cards on them, a set of five of which you see only their backs. These wild symbols are capable of forming wins with up to five of them showing on an active line. They offer the slot’s best rewards when this happens, with up to 1,000 coins being up for grabs. Wild symbols are also substitutes, naturally, and they can assist with any other combinations in being formed.
Once they’ve done this, the wilds are going to be turned into another type of wild, at random. There are five possible wilds for it to turn into.
One option is to get a simple wild symbol from it, which is the base version of the feature, doing just the substitution and the cash delivery.
Another one is a wild that looks like an evil spirit, being capable of possessing random symbols and then turning them into additional wilds.
Third, there is a Snake Wild, which slithers across the reels and turns the symbols it goes over into extra wilds.
Fourth, we have the Voodoo Doll wild, which remains locked in its position for the next five paid spins.
Finally, the fifth version of the wild is the one with the multiplier logo on it. It stays in that position until it can participate in a new combination. With each non-winning spin that passes, the multiplier goes up, and it can reach 5x eventually.
Theme & Design
The game has the perfect design for a Voodoo themed title. It starts with the creepy forest that is being shown in the background image, and it applies to most symbols appearing on the reels as well. The poker cards are good examples of that, since even though they’re typically the boring symbols of any game, here they’re made out of human bones and tied with colored string. The rest of the symbols show you Voodoo priestesses, skeleton characters, skulls, poison bottles, ram’s skulls, alligators, evil spirits and more of the same.
Maji Wilds is a good Voodoo themed slot machine, but it also has a lot of competition with graphics just as fun to look at. The reliance only on wild features for its extras is an interesting choice on Playtech’s part.
