Buckle Up Slot Machine Review

Playtech has done very well in Buckle Up, a game where they’ve decided to go for a racing theme which looks like it’s been inspired at least a little bit by the Mario arcade game character. It’s a classic game with lots of bells and whistles attached, meaning that it has features which will improve the gameplay.

You have a slot machine with 3+1 reels, through winning combinations and the 26 lines are available only on the first three, the fourth one being for extra features. Get the right bonuses to trigger as you fill up the reels with the right symbols, to get a win of up to $78,000 for one spin. At the same time, expect to find such features as wilds, scatters, race related bonus games and Boosters from the fourth reel which range from stacked wilds to 25x multipliers.

Betting and Prizes

The bet is used to cover 26 lines, but you are looking at a total of 25 coins being selected each time. You spend a minimum of $0.25 each round to spin the reels, though you get the option to go up to $75 if you want to. The line bet which appears to be in use here will vary between $0.01 and $3.

On the prize side, the regular combinations are not that impressive, as they deliver up to 40 coins per win. You improve this to up to 1,000 coins via multipliers landing on the 4th reel, and thanks to all the lines available the total potential for one spin is at 26,000 coins, or $78,000.

Buckle Up Game Features

The first thing to mention in this game is that it’s using 3+1 reels. The winning combinations are formed on the first three reels, and you need only three symbols to get a win. The fourth reel is going to host bonus features, which get activated only if you get a win on the main set of reels. This is also called a Booster Reel, and there are a total of four potential Boosters which you will get thanks to it.

First, there is the Extra Wild Booster, which gives you a stacked wild for reel 1. Second, you have the Extra Symbols Booster, transforming non-winning icons into winning ones. The Level Up is a booster which will upgrade winning symbols, to a higher value symbol. Finally, my favorite is the Multiplier Booster, which gives you a 25x multiplier for the current total win. The Booster Reel can also give you combinations of boosters, so you can benefit from more than one at a time.

The game has Race related bonus features as well, and to win a race and move on to the next level you need to get three scatter symbols (Trophies) to appear in a round. The races and the wins that you get from them are Daytime Circuit (80x bet), Jungle Circuit (100x bet), Beach Circuit (120x bet) and Night Circuit (160x bet).

An expanding wild symbol will also be provided, and you will be able to use it as a replacement for other types of symbols.

Theme & Design

The theme is race related, with a main character that looks like a relative of Mario, the arcade game character. He’s racing against an alpha male, there is a gorgeous race girl as well, along with symbols of trophies, tires, helmets, champagne and racing flags. I quite enjoyed the graphics, particularly for a 3-reel slot, a category which isn’t getting a lot of love from designers.
