Treasures of Tombs: Hidden Gold is the second slot machine in this series that Playson releases, and just like before the action revolves around a young blonde woman, an adventurer that’s going into Ancient Egypt’s pyramids to find their secrets.
Playson doesn’t seem to be a fan of having a lot of active paylines in most of their games, and so you get only 9 of them on 5 reels in Treasures of Tombs. You can win good rewards of up to $25,000. The list of the game’s features includes the Eye Wild, along with bonus symbols and free spins.
Betting and Prizes
The minimum wager allowed in Treasures of Tombs will have a value of $0.27, where each of the 9 lines get $0.03. The maximum bet can be set to $45, in which case the line bet would get $5. It’s an accessible betting range.
The symbol with the adventurer is the most rewarding of the slot, being capable of paying $25,000 when it’s forming a combination. An impressive $225,000 is possible through the same symbol during free spins, but only if it’s first selected as the bonus symbol for the feature. I found the RTP to be a decent one at 95.08%, though I wouldn’t have minded if it were higher.
Treasures of Tombs Features
The Eye of Ra symbol is the only one that you will see being used to trigger any sort of feature here. First of all, you can get it to form combinations and offer rewards of up to $9,000 during the regular rounds. Second, this can be both a wild and a scatter symbol, depending on the circumstances. You can have it as a substitute when it’s positioned on an active bet line and has a couple of matching symbols to help it out. You can also trigger 10 free spins with it, should three or more be visible somewhere on the reels that round.
Once you got the free spins going, retriggering them is just as easy as it was to get them active in the first place, with another set of 3+ scatters. At the start of the free spins, the game picks one of the regular symbols to act as a bonus symbol, with enhanced payouts. The top payout of $25,000 from the base game can be turned into $225,000 if won during free spins and if that particular symbol is chosen to act as the bonus.
Theme & Design
The theme is a standard one, involving an adventurer that goes into a pyramid. You have the interior of the pyramid shown behind the reels, with two large pillars flanking them on both sides. The reels are surrounded with colored and decorated borders. The symbols do start with a couple of boring choices, meaning that there are card logos among them. They eventually get several that look related to the theme, though they are very common and so they’re not particularly interesting. The Eye of Ra, the adventurer, Horus, the Scarab and the Sphinx are the themed symbols.
I found Treasures of Tombs: Hidden Gold to be a worthy successor for the previous slot machine with this name that Playson released. It’s got a good average RTP, big payouts and interesting features. The theme and the average design are the only ones that are holding it back some.
