Buffalo Power is only the latest slot game to come with the Hold and Win mechanic from Playson, but luckily it will have several other fun features for you to explore, so it’s not quite as common as it might sound. As you can probably tell, the theme of choice in its case is related to the North American prairie, and it features the buffalo as its main symbol and feature trigger.

You are playing a slot machine with 5 reels & 20 paylines, capable of delivering wins of up to 5,000x the stake in a single spin. From stacked wilds, to multiplier wilds, free spins, scatters and bonus games, there should be enough inside to keep you occupied.

Betting and Prizes

It’s the standard betting range, going from $0.20 to $100, which you can select from. The exact value picked will not influence the number of active lines, there will always be 20 present, so the line bet changes within a range of $0.01 to $5.

One of the ways to get paid in this game, is through a bonus game, called Power. It’s the one that offers up to 500x the stake, if you get the Grand Jackpot inside, though lower options are also available. As for the slot’s own wins, up to 5,000x the stake is possible in the free spins, and up to 2,500x in the base game.

The part that I’m least excited about, would definitely be the slot’s RTP, which is only 95.04%. It’s always tough to tell with Playson though, as they allow casinos to modify the RTP in their games at predetermined levels, and some might have a better return choice selected.

Buffalo Power: Hold and Win Slot Features

One of my favorite symbols from Buffalo Power, is the one that’s actually showing us this majestic animal. Showing up stacked on the reels, it’s available in its basic form in the paid spins, and as a multiplier wild during free spins. Either way, you get to use it as a replacement symbol, which will contribute to all sorts of other wins. It never replaces the feature triggers though. When creating wins by itself, it pays up to 125x the stake on each line.

Via scatter symbols showing a mountain and lightning at the top, you can get 8 free spins. You first need three of those triggering scatters, present at the same time in random locations on the reels. At this point, the stacked wild symbol gains a 2x multiplier, which it will apply to all wins that it is a part of.

The Power icon is one of two that will get you into the bonus game. The Bonus Sun icon is the other one that has this ability. You need a mix of 6+ icons of one or both types, to get this feature. Rewards of up to 500x the stake will be possible with enough of these symbols present, or during the feature itself.

Triggering symbols will be locked for this feature, and then 3 respins follow, where you’re trying to get additional symbols of this type in view. The respins reset, when there are new Power or Bonus symbols that land. You can double the payout, if you end up with an entire game area covered by these symbols. By collecting the Power Symbols, you can trigger one of the four jackpots. For the Grand Jackpot, you need 5 Power icons collected, while the others require 2 to 4.

Theme & Design

It’s a fairly common type of design, and just as easily it could’ve come from any of the company’s competitors. With a Native American wildlife theme, and a focus on the buffalo, the game will also feature icons where we see bears, mountain lions, eagles and wolves, but also less relevant Royals (J-A). Not that impressive overall, but it’s good enough for its purposes, and it’s definitely no reason to walk away from this game.

Buffalo Power: Hold and Win should feel familiar to Playson’s fans, it’s not that different from other slots of theirs, but it can still be a fun game to play, provided that the RTP is not below the average 96% at the Playson casino where you try it out. There is definitely more that the developer could’ve done here though, but it ends up being one of those titles where they mostly seem to use old features, padding up their numbers without offering anything new.
