Inspired at least partly by medieval warfare, Shields of the Wild nonetheless manages to surprise and it incorporates a wild creature element as well. The shields which you see appearing in the game have various beasts coming out of them, and the effect is an impressive one. The slot, which is fairly unique graphics wise, is coming from NextGen Gaming.
Don’t go in expecting too many opportunities to win, the game has only 10 bet lines over 5 reels. It has a potential of up to $25,000 per spin, and when it comes to major features it has wilds, scatters, Marching Stacks and the Shield Wall Bonus.
Betting and Prizes
A total of thirteen possible bet options are available, and you just need to select a value that you prefer. The values listed on the bet screen range from $0.10 to $100, which would allow each line to receive a wager of $0.01 to $10.
The best you can do, with a single winning combination, is 250x the line bet. That gets you paid up to $2,500 for the right five symbols aligned on a payline. The maximum potential of the game is $25,000 per spin.
You might not be excited about a 250x jackpot, but the game is going to pay reasonably well in the long run, as the RTP that’s announced in its case is 96.52%.
Shields of the Wild Slot Features
You should be fairly excited about the action that you will get from Shields of the Wild. The game has regular and unique features working together, to make those spins fun.
Wild symbols are in the game, and in fact they are the ones paying the top prizes. Showing a purple shield with the logo Shields of the Wild on it, the icon is a substitute and also a way for you to get up to 250x wins. The symbol is not going to replace Upgrade or Scatter icons.
A Shield Wild may trigger at the conclusion of a paid spin, and it will upgrade symbols to the next high paying position. It does this up to 8 times. It doesn’t upgrade scatters or wilds though.
The scatter is the Sword, a symbol which you can use to trigger a feature called Marching Stacks, provided that it’s visible in at least three locations. It transforms into an Upgrade icon for the Marching Stacks.
Marching Stacks is a feature which includes free spins and which has a stack of symbols appearing on reel 5. The chosen stack is picked from five Shield icons, but which ones contribute will depend on the number of triggering scatters. Scatter icons are turned into Upgrade symbols. Once you manage to fill all five reels with stacked icons, the feature ends and you get paid.
Theme & Design
Featuring the image of a king and of a soldier in the background, and with the reels being filled with images of shields, it’s obvious that medieval wars are a big source of inspiration in this case. The wild animals which are used as decorations on many of those shields add a unique element to the design.
There is enough variety in the shield designs, that the game ends up looking quite good. NextGen often does very well in this area, and they’ve proven their worth once again here.
Shields of the Wild will have excellent graphics, a big enough RTP and unique features which recommend it to anyone interested in playing something new.
