Emoji Planet is as modern a slot machine as you can get, at least when it comes to the theme. The features and layout it uses aren’t that regular either, so this is one of the slot machines where NetEnt chose to adventure farther than they did with their previous releases. I’m not that happy about the design quality of the slot though, or at least of the style in which they created its look. The slot doesn’t use regular lines, preferring a 6x5 reels look that will pay with the help of clusters of symbols. It’s generous enough with its rewards, offering up to $100,000 and using a wild symbol and five other bonuses that aren’t very difficult to trigger.
Betting and Prizes
Predictably enough, you are required to use lines and bet levels here, even though there are no actual lines to place the bets on. Having 20 lines and 1 to 10 coins to use on each one, makes it easier for the player, and so the slot relies on that betting method even here. The coins are going to get their own range, with values going from $0.01 to $1. The complete range of the wager will be $0.20 to $200.
The emoticon with the smiley face that’s laughing hard will be the one to pay the most, up to 10,000x, so up to $100,000 cash. Certain features can add multipliers to the total wins, so there is some potential to get even more.
Emoji Planet Slot Features
Cluster Pays is the name of the method through which the game decides who wins prizes in this case. Once the reels stop spinning, you will be able to form cluster of symbols that are next to each other, vertically or horizontally. At least 5 matching symbols are needed next to each other, before you can get a cluster and its payout. Symbols that are in the winning cluster will be removed, and the ones at the top come down to fill the positions. New clusters can form.
Wild symbols are basic enough here, capable of acting as replacements if they’re next to a cluster of matching icons, to either complete one or to add to it and make it more valuable.
The Emoji Features have five different meters, on the right side of the screen. They’re associated with just as many symbols that can form combinations on the reels. You need clusters with at least 12 symbols (either a single cluster or multiple ones obtained during the same spin), to trigger one of those five features. The features in question are called Bomb (destroying 8 symbols at random and offering prizes for each one), Pizza (adds an overlay of a random icon, in a 3x3 area), Kiss Mark (sticky wilds added, each one with 3 lives which are used up when they’re part of a win), Rocket (a large stack of 10 wilds added to a reel) and Two Hearts (adds multipliers, where the win is multiplied by the number of times that the meter was filled up, plus one).
Theme & Design
Though I often have good things to say about NetEnt slot machines, Emoji Planet was among my least favorite titles that I’ve seen them put out. The image from the background is on the weird side, with clouds and rainbows showing, with two she-devil twins dancing robotically, red balloons wandering in and characters from other NetEnt slots popping in and waving. The symbols are of various emoji, including here rockets, bombs, hearts, kisses, pizza and others.
For Emoji Planet, NetEnt chose a different kind of experience for its players, but unfortunately they also created a design that is not as good as they’ve offered in the past.
