Berryburst has been announced by NetEnt and it appears to be a successor to the Starburst slot, a hugely popular title from the developer’s collection. This time, we’re looking at a game that uses Cluster Pays and which has fruits for its major symbols, though the production value is big enough that this isn’t as boring as in other games released in this category.
5x3 reels make-up the game area on which you get to play Berryburst. As a Cluster Pays based game, it will not have any regular win lines, but fill an entire screen of these symbols and you could land payouts of up to 5,000x, or even 10,000x at times, which would mean a jackpot of $100,000. Feature wise, in addition to the fun Cluster Pays system, you also get expanding wilds which could prove very useful.
Betting and Prizes
The betting is obviously still based on the usual line system, 10 of them being sufficient to wager in this game. You increase the bet level and take it up to 10 if you want to, and this gives you the number of coins which will be used on each line. Next, check out the other side of the bottom row, to find the Coin Value, which you may take up to $1. These settings allow you to spend as little as $0.10 to get some clusters formed, or as much as $100, in which case the line bet is at $10.
As in most slots with Cluster Pays, you can form combinations here that fill up the entire screen. 15 of the right symbols will deliver wins even as high as 10,000x, which for this game means a payout of $100,000 at most. The developer announced for this slot an RTP of 96.56%, which is a decent figure and should allow players that want to try it, to give it a go.
Berryburst Slot Features
There is no huge list of features that you can explore in Berryburst, but the Cluster Pays system that it employs is already pretty big news for the player. It’s a system which doesn’t involve lines or even ways to win. All it cares about is that you have five or more matching symbols next to each other, touching horizontally or vertically. They form a cluster if that happens, and they pay you based on the type of symbol that participates and the number of times it’s part of the cluster. At most, you can have 15 matching symbols fill up all the positions on the five reels, and you get paid the symbol’s biggest prize in that case.
Still, it’s not a game completely devoid of regular features. It uses a wild symbol that will expand on the reel it appears on, after which it also triggers one re-spin. You can even end up with a full screen occupied by wilds. Do that during a re-spin, and the reward of up to 1,000x the stake becomes possible.
Theme & Design
I’m not usually that impressed when I see a slot machine that has fruit inspired graphics, but when it comes to NetEnt, even such boring themes can be turned into good-looking slot machines. BerryBurst has great production value, as always, but what you see on the reels are still fruit symbols and three card suits. Raspberries, orange slices, plums or limes are among the better symbols that will pay you. As for the wild, it’s a simple one, just with its own logo.
BerryBurst might just be another very popular slot machine for NetEnt, the way Starburst has been for a very long time already.
