Microgaming and its partner, Gameburger Studios, have chosen to clone the first slot machine that they offered together, 9 Masks of Fire, and that’s how 9 Pots of Gold was born. They simply changed the graphics for that one, and turned it into an Irish themed slot, one that keeps everything else though.
9 Pots of Gold is a slot machine which gives the player 5 reels & 20 lines, one of the most common setups that you can expect in such a game. You can win $120,000, or up to 2,000x the stake, and you can expect a game with medium volatility and a 96.24% RTP. On its list of major features, this title offers scatters, wilds, free spins, a wheel of fortune and Pot Pays.
Betting and Prizes
A wager in 9 Pots of Gold has a full range of $0.20 to $60, so you can pick any of the values available within it, and you will play the game with all lines active. For the 20 lines which are used, the line bet appears to go from $0.01 to $3.
As for the rewards that can come your way, it’s a 2,000x top payout that you’re going after, which could be turned into up to $120,000. Not the biggest top prize around, but you do have a slot with Medium volatility here, so the risk isn’t very high either.
I should also mention the game’s Return to Player, which sits at a comfortable 96.24%, enough to make this slot an adequate choice.
9 Pots of Gold Slot Features
The Toadstool Wild is among the symbols that you will want to pay attention to. Besides its usual role, that of a substitute that will contribute to any regular combo that can form on its lines, this symbol also creates combinations of its own. Its own symbols will pay 125x the stake, when they end up covering a full line.
The way to the free spins requires that you first land three scatters, on the middle three columns. The game delivers you to a new feature, a Free Spin Wheel which decides how many rounds you get (up to 30), as well as the multiplier for them (2x or 3x). Should additional scatters appear in sufficient numbers, you retrigger the feature with the same number of rounds.
Finally, there is also something called Pot Pays here, requiring the Pot of Gold scatters landing at least three times on the middle reels. These deliver a prize, ranging from 1x to 2,000x the stake, based on the number of times they show up (up to 9 scatters possible).
Theme & Design
The game’s theme is about the most boring thing about it. While you get some interesting features, this clone of 9 Masks of Fire will deliver only the usual Irish themed design. Rather than go for something new and unique, they preferred one of the most common themes. I do like the design, even if the story isn’t fun for me. It’s going to feature well designed icons with toadstools, pots of gold, triple 7s, double 7s, single 7s, harps, top hats, shamrocks and Bar logos.
9 Pots of Gold doesn’t look that unusual, there are plenty of other Irish themed slots out there, but if you enjoyed the game that it is a clone of (9 Masks of Fire), then perhaps you will want to try this one as well. However, if you’re not a fan of the Irish theme, then I recommend the other game, the original.
