Guardians of the Monastery Slot Machine

A beautiful, cartoon-style slot machine from Merkur, Guardians of the Monastery appears to have certain Asian roots which have a bit of martial arts thrown in as well. The Asian warriors which are guarding the monastery leave a good impression visually, and I have to say that the feature list doesn’t look too bad either. Keep reading to find out everything about the game.

5x3 reels and 20 lines, this is about as regular as it gets in the world of modern slot machines. The game has some interesting bits to offer as well, particularly the free spins with up to 5x multipliers, along with scatters or wilds. Payout wise, the slot’s highest potential is to pay $200,000 in just one spin.

Betting and Prizes

The game will be played via wagers which are designed to cover 20 lines. You can spend just $0.20 on a single spin, but you can also make a more serious investment, and use $40 for one round of the game. At that point, you’d pay $2 for each active line.

The ideal situation in this game is to have free spins triggered, at the highest multiplier, and to get winning combinations of high-paying Temple icons. A reward which would normally be at $2,000, would be turned into a $10,000 jackpot. Even better, you could have these wins on several lines at a time. The highest potential for one spin, with 20 lines covered, is $200,000.

One more element which makes the game look good is the average RTP which is announced for it. Merkur made sure it reached 96.05%, so it’s a respectable number.

Guardians of the Monastery Slot Features

The two symbols which show us the guardians of this fabled monastery will also be the wilds. They look like seasoned warriors, and they will often be used in new combinations formed on the same lines that they land on. They don’t appear to have any of their own rewards to give you.

Other than that, you’re going to have two different meters at the left and right of the game area. The one on the left allows you to increase the number of free spins, while the right side shows you the multiplier which will be used when that feature is triggered. The 5 levels on the left side show 8, 12, 16 or 20 free spins. The multiplier meters is at 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. The free spins trigger when you get to the highest level of one of the two meters. The best outcome would be to reach the top of both meters at the same time, and receive 20 free spins with wins multiplied by 5x.

In order for the meters to go up or down, you need the wild symbols to land in the 3rd position of reel 1 or on the 1st position of reel 5.

Theme & Design

Merkur went with an Asian style theme, one which has Chinese warriors as some of its main symbols. It’s also going to involve the monastery where martial arts are being practiced, and in secondary positions you will find potion bottles, scrolls of silk, bells, a spade and various Royals. It looks like an impressive game visually, which is surprising given that Merkur is not known for such releases.

Conclusion

I liked Guardians of the Monastery, not just because it has pretty graphics, but also because of its RTP and features.
