Lightning Box Games is the latest developer to offer a scary themed slot machine, and their choice of theme was for a story about the Headless Horseman. It’s a popular enough story, and in slot machine form it’s more original than the usual witch themed scary slots, so I give the developer points for originality.
This slot gives you plenty of opportunities to win, since it has 40 lines arranged on just 5x3 reels. The better rewards it has will come in the form of fixed jackpots, with the Grand Jackpot paying up to $62,500. There are some good features to be had as well, such as Wild Horseman, Lightning Bolt scatters and Lightning Respins or Flippin Retriggers.
Betting and Prizes
You’re going to select the bet for the round, including all 40 lines here, and so you start off from the minimum bet of $0.40, and then you can reach a maximum of $50. That kind of betting range requires a line bet of $0.01 to $1.25.
Prize wise, look for the Grand Jackpot if you want to know the best possible outcome of a round. It’s going to pay 1,250x the stake, or up to $62,500. Smaller jackpots are available, as are winning combinations which pay up to 600x ($750). With the RTP announced at 95.52%, it’s an average game in terms of potential for the player, but so are most slot machines that you will get a chance to play.
Lightning Horseman Slot Features
The Horseman, without a head but with a carved pumpkin in his hand, will be your wild feature and the symbol that pays the most out of the regulars (600x the line bet). The usual role in which you will see it appear will be that of the substitute, and in that capacity it will help you out the most. It can be of use even if it appears only once, but it doesn’t do anything for you if the scatter is the one that needs replacing.
Lightning Bolt scatters can also appear, and they may do this even on multiple positions on each reel. You end up needing at least 6 of these scatters to trigger a Lightning Respin, though as many as 13 can act in that capacity.
The Lightning Respin feature gives you 3 rounds at first, with the triggering scatters being locked for the duration. Only the other positions spin. The aim is to get extra Lightning Bolts, so that they can also lock in place and reset the number of respins to 3. At the end of the feature, the Lightning Bolts flip and give you prizes.
If you manage to fill up the reels with 15 Lightning Bolts, then you get the Flippin Retrigger. You reflip all the Lightning Bolts, and you get prizes from all of them.
Theme & Design
The Headless Horseman story sits at the basis of this slot machine, though obviously they turned it into a Lightning Horseman and used a Jack-O-Lantern for the head that he’s carrying around. It’s not as gruesome as the original story, but it works for Halloween. As symbols, you have the Horseman, the Lightning Bolt, several characters from the story, ravens and barns for major symbols, while the others have Royals.
It’s going to be a good choice if you’re looking for something scary next Halloween, and it doesn’t hurt that it can pay a prize worth 1,250x the stake as well.
