Mega Jackpots gets a new slot machine to be a part of, and this time we’re looking at a version of Star Lanterns, another IGT title. The actual theme that they’ve gone for is not a particular interesting one, revolving around Chinese paper lanterns, offered here in different designs, sizes and colors.
For Mega Jackpots: Star Lanterns, IGT went with a rather tame looking layout, where only 20 fixed lines were selected for its 5 reels. The slot’s progressive jackpot will clearly get most of your attention, but there are juicy fixed jackpots to be won during the game’s regular rounds as well, perhaps even as high as 15,000x. Moving on to the features, those include the wild symbols, free spins, the Mega Jackpots triggers, bonus symbols and Stars scatters.
Betting and Prizes
The slot appears to have a complete range for its bets between $0.20 and $600, though you might notice higher limits as well in some cases. The typical bet range should be from $0.01 to $30 per line. There is no option here to change the value of your line bet.
If we’re looking at the progressive jackpot, then you can count on payouts that start from $500,000 and go up from there. When they reset, they go back to the half million mark and start climbing up once again. The game can make you a millionaire, so the Mega Jackpot title is earned.
On the fixed side of things, you have a jackpot of 1,000 coins, which can be turned into one of up to 15,000 coins if the Star Lanterns each contribute with a 5x multiplier to the round’s wins.
Mega Jackpots: Star Lanterns Features
The Floating Reels have a major influence over the way that the game is played and how it pays you. Whenever you get a winning combo, during regular or free spins, the symbols that are part of it will disappear once they’ve paid you, and new symbols are filled with others that float up from below, just like paper lanterns would.
A pretty regular feature in Star Lanterns is the one that the game uses for the wild. Showing a Paper Lantern, same as every other symbol used here, it will be used as a replacement for the symbols that don’t trigger features or progressive jackpots. Only regular combinations can have these wilds in them.
The Bonus symbols have the image of a Lotus flower on them. Having three symbols in view, on the first three columns, will grant you access to the free spins feature. Only the base game’s rounds can get the bonus icons. You are asked to select one of the three lanterns next, and this will tell you how many free spins you’ve won.
The Star symbols, when they appear on the first three reels, can behave in one of two ways. They can either be turned into MegaJackpots logos, triggering the progressive jackpot when there are enough of them displayed, or they can give you a random multiplier. The multiplier can be at 2x, 3x or 5x and it adds up with any others that might be present that round.
Theme & Design
IGT chose a Chinese theme for the slot and the symbols all reflect it. There are paper lanterns everywhere you look, with the exception of some of the feature symbols. They are coming in different colors and they sport images of fish, dragons, palm trees, flowers or women on them, to mention just some of their decorations.
Mega Jackpots: Star Lanterns doesn’t have a very good average RTP, but if you’re a believer in your luck, you might still want to give it a shot and try for the progressive jackpot.
