King of Atlantis Slot Machine

King of Atlantis has given us yet another slot machine that’s based on something from the mythology of Ancient Greece. The Atlantis theme is far from new, but when done well it can make for an interesting game. IGT certainly did well when developing this slot machine and its features, the focus inside appearing to be on Poseidon, the god of the sea and apparently the king of Atlantis as well.

You’re not exactly using a standard setup in King of Atlantis, with the slot machine’s 5x5 reels capable of hosting 40 fixed lines. There are prizes going up to $5,000, but there are also Gigantic Wilds, free spins, scatters and other features that can be taken advantage of.

Betting and Prizes

The game will allow for regular wagers of $0.40 to $800 to be made, where the player covers 40 active lines with an amount varying between $0.01 and $20. There is the option to buy additional wilds for the reels, so instead of 20 you will get 40 or 60 wilds. The 40 wild option will have a betting range between $0.65 and $1,300. The option with 60 wilds on the reels will cost you between $0.90 and $1,800 each round.

The game’s going to pay fairly often, as it is visible in the 96.14% average RTP that you can work with. The rewards are not going to be that high individually, the best combo that you can form offering up to $5,000, or 250 coins.

King of Atlantis Slot Features

The slot has at least one thing to make it special, and I’m not talking about its larger than usual layout, with 5x5 reels at your disposal. Instead, I’m talking about the fact that you can buy more wild symbols for your reels, increasing the wager significantly in the process though.

I think that one of the most valuable features that you’re going to discover inside will be the Gigantic Wild. It’s going to show you the image of Poseidon and it’s a wild that covers up to two entire reels when it appears. The reels on which this 2x5 wild can show up are the 2nd and the 4th ones, covering the 3rd and 5th reels as well in the process. The extra wilds that you’re paying for are gigantic ones, so it might just be worth the extra expense.

Accessing the free spins is another option that you get, which will require that you have a Bonus scatter land on the 1st reel, while one Gigantic Wild is present either on the 2nd or the 4th reel. The reward will consist of 8 free spins. For their duration, the wild reels are going to be kept locked in position (ideally, you would want Gigantic wilds covering all four reels when you trigger the free spins). Since the free spins can be immensely profitable, the game doesn’t allow you to retrigger them.

Theme & Design

If we’re looking at the theme of King of Atlantis, we’re not seeing anything truly special, since the lost continent has served as inspiration for many other games. The graphics look better than in some of the other games available from IGT, though that’s not hard since it uses a marine theme. Poseidon, mermaids, dolphins, harps, rings, shells and crowns are found among the slot’s symbols.

Conclusion

Overall, it’s a convincing release from IGT, with the right mix of interesting features and a good RTP. The graphics and the theme could be better, but the game’s perfectly playable as it is.
