Magic Oak is one of the cuter-looking slot machines that I’ve had the pleasure of trying out lately, and it’s a Habanero release. The developer is no stranger to well-designed slots, and it’s something that can be said about the majority of the games I’ve seen them release so far. They’re trying something new with Magic Oak, the slot machine offering a different layout and features, compared with their other titles.
First, you will discover a setup with 4x4 reels, the first one of this type in Habanero’s collection. Second, you get Cluster Pays as the system forming winning combinations here, rather than the more regular paylines or ways to win from other slots. There is a very high RTP that’s apparently calculated for this game, of 98.07%, which should make it a favorite for a lot of players. At the same time, it’s considered a game with high volatility. For the rest of the feature list, you have the wild symbol, free spins and the scatters which will trigger them.
Betting and Prizes
The game’s going to pretend that it has 20 lines in use, even though there are Cluster Pays forming its wins. The way to vary the wager is either by changing the bet level (coins per line) or the coin value (starts from a minimum value of $0.01). The smallest wager allowed is $0.20, while the highest one depends pretty much on the player, as Habanero slots tend to have high roller worthy betting ranges.
It’s a game which can pay reasonably well, but even better, we know that in the long run it’s considered a game with an excellent return to the player. On average, it’s expected to pay 98.07% of what’s wagered on it, back to its players, that percentage being its RTP.
Magic Oak Slot Features
The Cluster Pays system will take matching symbols which are next to each other, in any direction, and will form combinations with them. They can take any form on the reels, as long as they are connected and there are enough symbols present in the cluster.
You can win 2 to 4 free spins from each scatter symbol in view, but you need at least four of them occupying positions on the reels, in order for the feature to trigger in the first place.
As the game is played, you will find wisps making appearances on its reels. These will be collected, and they will eventually be released, at which point they bring extra wilds to your reels. You get all symbols of one type transformed into wilds if the blue wisps are the ones released, while the yellow ones will transform individual symbols.
The wilds you get will be used to help form clusters of symbols, so they act as replacements if they appear in the right position, same as in a regular game.
Theme & Design
The theme is not a new one, but it’s been designed extremely well. It takes us to the forest, and introduces us to some of the creatures living there. The graphics style is cartoon-style, at the quality that you can get from any high quality animation film.
When it comes to symbols, the list starts low with the four card suits (spade, heart, diamond, club), then continues with the bunny, fox, squirrel, owl and racoon. The final two are the Scatter and Wild logos, both well designed, made out of wood.
Magic Oak looks like a very good new slot from Habanero, and leaving aside the 4x4 reels and the Cluster Pays mechanic, it’s the 98.07% RTP that I imagine will get most people’s attention.
