Ra & The Scarab Temple is the latest game to offer a theme that’s inspired by the Ancient Egyptians and the things that we know about them. It’s not a theme that suggests innovation, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to get it via features. Bally’s game does reasonably well in that regard.
Don’t let the 55 coins of the bet fool you, the slot actually offers 40 paylines over 5x4 reels. Its regular wins of up to $500 per combo might not feel exciting, but the $50,000 from the Red Envelope Jackpot should give you a better reason to try it out. As for the rest of the offer, the slot delivers scatter symbols, mystery stacked symbols, various types of wilds, a bonus called Radiating Wilds, but also free spins where up to 5x multipliers are employed.
Betting and Prizes
You will have to use more coins than there are lines in this case. 55 coins will activate 40 lines, and wagers can start from a minimum of $0.55 per spin. Increasing the total bet will allow you to reach a maximum of $275, which would set the line bet/coin value to $5.
It’s the Red Envelope Jackpot that you’re going to want to win, with a value of 10,000 coins. This means that you could get a $50,000 reward at most. Don’t look to the regular wins for impressive wins, they pay at most $500 in the base game, or $2,500 during certain free spins.
The regular wins might be on the low side, but there are enough good features in this slot, to get it to a long-term RTP of 95.85%.
Ra & The Scarab Temple Slot Features
The feature that should get your attention most will be the Red Envelope Jackpot, which is won via Red Envelope icons when they appear on the 1st and 5th reels at the same time.
There are also Mystery Stacked Reels in use, and on each column you will get mystery positions that are replaced with a random symbol each round. You could get regular symbols in those positions, but not feature triggers.
The Obelisk is a stacked symbol, whose appearance will trigger the Radiating Wilds feature, even if it’s only partially visible on a reel. The Obelisk and the positions to its immediate left and right are turned into wilds at this point. Some of the other feature symbols, if found in those positions, will be transformed into mixed icons (Wild Bonus and Wild Envelope).
A Pot of Gold is going to be the scatter symbol, capable of triggering the free spins when showing up on the middle three columns. You pick what version of the free spins you want, between 6 rounds with 5x multipliers, 10 with 3x, 15 with 2x or 30 free spins with standard wins.
Theme & Design
Theme wise, Ra & The Scarab Temple is simple to figure out. It’s an Ancient Egypt inspired slot machine, and so it adds to the reels images that we’ve often seen in similar games. The title tells you two of the symbols which will be available, the Scarab and Ra, while others get standard icons with Eye of Ra, Ankh, Bracelet and Lotus Flower. A Pot of Gold, a Red Envelope that’s usually found in Chinese slots and an Obelisk are among the feature icons. Low paying symbols have Royals between 10 and A.
Don’t expect much in the way of graphics, but the game does deliver a good RTP and several unique features, so it might be worth trying for that at least.
