Amatic releases with Grand Fruits a new game for their classic theme series, and they do seem to have plenty of those in their collection already. Using fruits for its symbols, along with other classic options, it’s not the most exciting game around. Nonetheless, some players prefer a simpler experience, and Grand Fruits has that in spades.
The developer chose a bigger game area, with 5x4 reels and 40 paylines, so you have decent chances of forming combinations each round, you’re likely not going to get bored. With up to 1,000x payouts promised per spin, the slot has adequate rewards for its players. On the list of features, it has only wilds, scatters and bonus spins, a very common mix which fails to get the player interested in what’s going on.
The game will have 40 active lines, so your job is to cover them, with bets as low as $0.40 or as high as $80 (options may vary from one casino to another). Each line gets one coin, and the denomination changes automatically for them, as you modify the total bet.
You get the game’s best rewards in one of two ways. You either form winning combinations with Lucky 7s, which pay up to 25x the stake per line, and 1,000x for a screen full of them, or you get five scatters. The scatters pay up to 250x the stake, when appearing on all five reels.
The features of this slot machine are acceptable, options which offer you the usual list of wilds and free spins, but with some improvements, so you don’t just skip them immediately. Regular and stacked symbols are both used, depending on your luck as well, and they can occupy up to three positions.
For starters, the wild symbol is present on all reels and it is used as a substitute, but more than that, it also lands stacked and capable of taking over entire reels. As such, it can contribute to all 40 lines in a single spin. It will not be a scatter’s replacement though.
Another one that’s important, is the scattered Star. This one you can get on three or more reels, and in exchange the game delivers access to 7 free spins, while also paying a prize worth up to 250x the stake.
As the bonus spins begin, the game will select a regular symbol to become an extra wild. Any of the regular symbols can be used, so the scatter is not on that list. The extra wild will be used to act as a substitute for all other symbols, forming combinations with them on active lines. Its image is that of an Extra Wild logo.
What you’re not likely to be impressed with here, is the theme and design. Theme wise, you get a classic fruit slot, so your feature triggers will be logos and stars, while regular ones will revolve around lucky 7s, bells, horseshoes, melons, plums, grapes, oranges, lemons or cherries.
Furthermore, I’m not that crazy about the quality of the design either. Once again, it looks like an older slot machine, not a release coming out in the year 2020. Obviously, Amatic is still a bit stuck in the past.
Grand Fruits gives the player the classic experience, with features being more interesting than everything else that’s offered inside, but not by a lot.
