If it’s October, then Halloween is right around the corner, and developers everywhere are about to start releasing their nightmarish slots for the occasion. The scariest games of the year tend to be released for this holiday, with vampires, zombies and all sorts of other creatures making appearances in them. It’s not quite what Amatic had in mind with Book of Fruits: Halloween though. They turned their regular Book of Fruits slot into a Halloween version, but they made sure to change some things up inside, so that’s it’s not the same game with slightly different clothes.

Book of Fruits: Halloween delivers 10 active lines on 5x3 reels, while the original offered only 5 lines. With Book of Ra inspired mechanics, the slot doesn’t offer a lot if you’re after originality, but it ends up delivering the same 5,000x jackpots as every other slot in this category. Mixed wild/scatter symbols with the Book, along with the standard free spins with expanding symbols, the list of features shouldn’t surprise you.

Betting and Prizes

You’re going to have to pick the wager for the game’s 10 lines, and this means that a minimum of 10 coins need to be used. Up to 500 coins can be part of the bet, if you max out the option there.

As for the payouts which the game will deliver, 5,000 coins is the highest reward that a single combo will offer, so 500x the stake of the spin. Get those via expanding symbols which involve the top symbol, on all reels, to get up to 5,000x the stake from the slot’s 10 lines.

The high volatility nature of the game, and the exciting way the free spins can bring you big payouts, is what seems to make the Book-style genre so popular among players. Risk is involved, but there is something big to look forward to as well.

Book of Fruits Halloween Slot Features

There is only one feature symbol present in the game, an all-powerful Book of Fruits, which you can get once on each of the five reels. Now, if it’s present on an active line, and the other symbols shown there allow it, it can assist them in forming a combo, so it’s acting as a wild.

That same symbol is also a scatter though, and provided that you get it at least three times on the reels, you will soon notice its true powers. It’s going to be a trigger for the free spins, while also paying 2x, 20x or 200x the stake, for 3, 4 or 5 Book icons in view.

Once triggered, there are 10 free spins to go through initially, with the chance to retrigger the feature if another group of 3+ scattered Books land. As the feature starts up, a regular symbol will be randomly selected, and turned into a special icon.

Each round, once the regular combinations have paid you, the special symbols in view get to expand and take over their reels. They will pay you based on the number of times they appear (on 3+ reels), and they don’t have to be consecutive from left to right, so in a way they behave as scatters on all 10 lines.

This is a feature with big potential, and ideally you’d want the Lucky 7 symbol to be the one chosen to be special, since it pays the most (500x per line). Next, get that symbol on each of the five reels, in any random position, and you end up with a screen filled with top symbols and a 5,000x jackpot.

Theme & Design

They’ve taken the classic fruit inspired design of the original, and they added a couple of Halloween-style decorations to some of the symbols, things like cobwebs and spiders mostly.

The only new presence in the paytable section, is the Pumpkin, a gorgeous Jack O Lantern image which is the second best paying symbol of the game. Other icons range from the Book of Fruits, to Lucky 7s, Bar logo, Watermelon, Grapes, Plums, Oranges, Lemons and Cherries.

Nothing special there, and if you’re looking for a true Halloween design, I’d imagine you would be disappointed with this one.

Conclusion

Book of Fruits: Halloween is your standard Book of Ra clone, with some minimal work done in turning it into something fit for Halloween. It doesn’t look like it’s good enough though, and as there are much more interesting Book-style games out there, I would turn to one of the others to have some fun.

About the only way that I’d recommend this one, is if you really wanted a Halloween-themed Book-style slot, since I’m not sure if there are any others around. It wouldn’t be difficult to design one that does a better job than Book of Fruits: Halloween though.
